In this four-session course, you will join Wendy to create a vibrant, personal-sized modern quilt while breaking free from rigid traditional constraints. You’ll conquer the “Big Win” of precise piecing— learning how to manage various fabric shapes to ensure a flat, professional finish. You will leave this class not just with a completed quilt top ready for quilting, but with a refined set of technical skills and the confidence to “stash bust” any project in the future.
What You Will Learn
- Precision Cutting: Mastering the use of rotary cutters, acrylic rulers, and self-healing mats to transform irregular scraps into uniform, workable shapes.
- The Golden Seam: Learning to sew an accurate 1/4-inch seam for piecing to ensure your blocks align perfectly without losing their points.
- Quilt Top Architecture: Professional techniques for assembling blocks and rows into a cohesive, structurally sound personal-sized quilt top.
- Pattern Literacy: Decoding quilt terminology used in professional magazines and books so you can tackle any future project with confidence.
- Essential Tool Mastery: Developing expert-level habits with the “Big Three” (Rotary cutter, Mat, and Ruler) and the specialized patchwork foot.

- Skill Level: Beginner. If you can sew a straight line and are excited to dive into the world of quilting, you are ready for this class!

- Pre-Class Prep: Please gather your fabric and ensure it is ironed and ready for cutting on the first day.
