Entrelac Candy Mittens
June 9 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$90

Description
Learn the entrelac knitting technique and make these sweet mittens in tiny bite-sized pieces. Entrelac is a wonderful way to knit small, joined sections that work up into a textural, woven look. It’s great for stashbusting, self-striping yarns, gradients cakes, and colour play. As a side bonus, you’ll learn how to “knit back” — knitting in the opposite direction so you’ll never have to turn your work — a useful technique for knitting any small section when it’s better to see it from the right side on every row.
What You Will Learn
-
-
- The entrelac technique: Make a knit fabric that resembles a basketweave but is actually made from small squares, picked up and knit from the squares below.
- Shaping within entrelac: How to increase and decrease while maintaining the entrelac pattern evenly.
- Making a thumb hole in an entrelac mitten: How and wear to make a hole that keeps the entrelac pattern going but sets you up to knit a thumb later.
- Entrelac knitting in the round (versus entrelac knitting flat, like you’d do for a scarf): how to switch from flat to in-the-round knitting with entrelac.
- Knitting back: Learning to knit in the opposite direction instead of turning and purling the work.
- How to keep track of entrelac rows and tiers: Tips and tricks for finding your landmarks so you don’t lose your place.
