Koigu’s Cottage Life Blanket Kit includes 5 skeins of Koigu Origins Masham Boucle yarn and a printed pattern.
The Cottage Life Blanket finishes at about 33 x 56 inches / 84 x 142 cm in size. It’s a simple knitting project that’s suitable for beginners. The bulky Masham yarn knits up quickly on large needles (9 mm / US 13 recommended) and will make a cozy, woolly lap blanket for chilly nights by the lake.

Boucle yarn is plied at a looser tension, forming curls and giving the yarn a bumpy texture that looks a lot like it would have on the Masham sheep.
The Masham sheep is a cross between the Teeswater (or Wensleydale) and Northern Hill (Swaledale or Dalesbred). Masham originated in Northern England and have a particular love for the hills. The Masham sheep is noted for its motherly instincts and longevity as a sheep. You can distinguish a Masham sheep from others by their black and white faces, as well as their long wool Its wool is recognized as being soft and having a long fleece, at a 33.5 – 35 micron.
