Dimensional Knitting: Double-Knit Sculptural Toque
February 24 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Dimensional Knitting: Double-Knit Sculptural Toque
Description
Master the art of creating sculptural, folded knitting on the outside of a hat, while keeping the interior layer smooth and comfortable.
Over two classes, learn to use the double knitting technique to make a top-down toque that has a smooth inner texture and a welted, extra-warm outer texture.
You will leave knowing how to manipulate Double Knitting to create more than just two colour designs — even two shapes are possible!
What You Will Learn
- Magic Circle Cast On: Mastering the method that lets you begin any knitting (or crochet) project from the centre of a circle, in a way that is able to be tightened easily.
- E-Loops: Creating simple, mirrored increases that don’t pull on the stitches around them.
- Read Your Knitting: Recognizing your stitches so you can take control, prevent and fix mistakes.
- Lifelines: Using hollow cords or waste yarn to create “save points” in your knitting projects.
- Textured Double Knitting: Learning how to manipulate the two layers to create different textures and colours on each side, with no wrong sides showing.
- Blocking: The final step that can really change your knitting project and make it sing.
- Invisible Bind Off: This essential Double Knitting technique will be taught in a separate workshop the week after this class ends. We split them up so anyone who wants to learn the Invisible Bind Off and grafting can join in.
