SUMMARY:Knit Your Own Project - Tuesday mornings
DESCRIPTION:This knitting class lets you bring ANY knitting project to receive expert guidance on any knitting topic. Knitting teacher Amanda Schwabe will be here to help you troubleshoot any project or learn a new knitting skill. \nBring your wips\, your projects that are in time out\, or your next new challenge. Amanda has been teaching knitting classes in the Ottawa area for 10+ years\, and designing and writing knitting patterns even longer. She can help you with your knitting\, no matter what it is. Brioche\, socks\, mittens\, sweater fitting\, fixing mistakes (even in complex lace or cables)\, colourwork\, shawls\, amigurumi\, and so on — it’s all fair game. \nIt’s a good idea to bring a few projects\, so that if you get stuck on one\, you’ll have something simple to knit while Amanda is helping other students. \nThis Tuesday morning class runs every week. You’re welcome to drop in and sign up on the morning of the class\, but it’s best to sign up ahead of time so we can notify you if the class gets cancelled because of sickness or extenuating circumstances.

SUMMARY:Mystery Knit A Long - MKAL
DESCRIPTION:Join Maker Savvy for our third Murder Mystery Knit Along.   We are super pleased to have Amanda Schwabe working with us again\, and Amanda is also designing the shawl pattern. \nKnit together\, get the next clue\, read the next chapter\, learn new techniques\, and get tips and tricks from the pattern designer\, Amanda Schwabe. \nSix clues ~ Six colours ~ Six weeks \nWhen do I find out the next clue?\nKnit with us over the course of 6 weeks on Tuesdays\, and get the clues needed to solve the mystery! \n\nSeptember\n\n12th\, 23rd & 30th\n\n\nOctober\n\n7th\, 14th & 21st\n\n\n\nFAQ’s\nWhat is it?\nWe’ll be knitting a shawl in six steps. You’ll receive one “clue” each week containing the next part of the pattern. \nWhat will the shawl pattern look like?\nIt’s a mystery! But here are a few hints:\nTexture\, movement\, direction\, drape. \nCan I expect this year’s shawl to be similar to last year’s?\nNot at all. Expect something completely different. We don’t want to bore you\, after all! \nDo I have to use Koigu?\nNo\, you can use any fingering-weight yarn you like. \nCan I use all KPM or more KPPPM?\nFeel free to switch things up if you’re feeling adventurous. This pattern will play well with those variegated yarns\, but keeping the MC as a solid that supports all the KPPPMs will be beneficial. \nCan I use yarn from my stash?\nOf course! This could be a good stashbuster pattern if you have little collections that could combine to replace each of the KPPPMs. Use a solid MC to pull them all together. \nYour registration includes:\n\nMurdery Mystery pattern clues for shawl\nCast-on Party at Kichesippi Beer Co – The Tap Room\n\n2265 Robertson rd\n\n\nThe remaining 5 in-class sessions for mystery clues and instruction\n\nRegistration does not include yarn kits\, needles\, or other knitting accessories to complete your shawl. \nYarn Requirements\nSuggested yarn: Koigu KPM & KPPPM (50g/175yds/160m per skein) \nSix-Colour Version (Recommended to go with the story) \n\n\n\nMain Colour: 3 skeins KPM (150g)\nColour Pop: 1 skein KPM\nColour Pop or contrast: 1 skein KPM or KPPPM\nColour Blend 1: 1 skein KPPPM\nColour Blend 2: 1 skein KPPPM\nColour Blend 3: 1 skein KPPPM\n\n\n\nThree-Colour Version \n\n\n\nMain Colour: 3 skeins KPM\nSecondary Main Colour: 3 skeins KPPPM\nContrast Colour: 2 skeins KPM or KPPPM\n\n\n\nTwo-Colour Version \n\n\n\nMain Colour: 4 skeins KPM\nContrast Colour: 4 skeins KPPPM\n\n\n\n\n\n1 of 6

SUMMARY:Quilted Jacket Camp
DESCRIPTION:We are over the moon for this new class.  Design your own unique quilted jacket with the help of three Maker Savvy instructors.  Wendy\, Jacqueline and Kathy will guide through the entire design\, quilting and finishing process to complete your own quilted jacket. \nFirst\, Wendy will take you through the process of designing your fabric for your jacket.  She will show you how to get over the ‘blank canvas’ fear of your design.  You will learn a few different ideas on how to visualize your unique design.  In the next planning session we will trouble shoot how to implement your design.  Will you piece?  Foundation paper piecing? Applique? Or will you use a combination of techniques. \nSecond\, Jacqueline will guide you through the next design process; how the heck will I quilt this?  In the first session\, you will draw out how to ‘fill’ the space.   What type of batting will you use to great the desired look of your quilted pieces.  In the next quilting session Jacqueline will guide you through the process of quilting your individual pieces.  Will you use a walking foot?  Free motion? Hand stitching or long slow stitch?  Or\, will you use a combination?  The sky is the limit. \nAnd thirdly\, putting your pieces together.  Kathy will guide you through the final cutting of your pattern pieces and assembly. Will your jacket be reversible? In your second finishing session\, she will show you how to professionally finish your project and explore seaming options. \nThe Quilted Jacket Camp has six\, three hour class instruction session over the span of eight weeks.  You will be the talk of the town when you wear your new jacket this fall.  Limited spaces are available. \nClass fees include class instruction and Verona coat pattern (yeah we sang the song too).
